Converse wants all the smoke. Following OKC’s 124-94 win over Minnesota to advance to the NBA Finals, the @conversehoops IG page shared a video dissing Anthony Edwards and adidas Basketball.
An Ant is seen walking over sand, including a footprint of NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Converse SHAI 001. The copy reads “Nothing Left 2 Say? Unbelievable,” clearly poking fun at Edwards’ “Believe That” slogan and all the shot-taking ads adidas has been coming out with for Anthony Edwards shoes. The “2” inclusion of course ties in with Shai’s jersey number.
This all occurs as the SHAI 001 has been getting plenty of run throughout the NBA playoffs. Three new colorways have been unveiled thus far, including “Ares Grey,” “Charm Black,” and most recently a “Hail Clay” SHAI 001 created as a tribute to Shai’s wife Hailey Summers. With the Thunder now set to meet the Pacers/Knicks in the Finals, it’s possible (if not likely) Shai will debut at least one more.
For adidas, the Thunder win puts an end to their signature athlete representation in the NBA playoffs. Still, models like the Harden Vol 9 will continue being represented thanks to players like Jalen Williams and Lou Dort. We can’t help but wonder if adidas planned to debut the Anthony Edwards 2 had Minnesota made the finals, but we might never know. Ant’s latest signature has been slowly coming into focus via leaks in recent months, but the model has yet to be officially announced. Meanwhile, the SHAI OO1 is slated to debut during the Fall 2025 shopping season.
