This Nike Air Force 1 Low Enjoys A Premium “Ashen Slate” Outfit

An elevated take on Bruce Kilgore's 40-year-old design.

This Nike Air Force 1 Low Enjoys A Premium “Ashen Slate” Outfit

The Nike Air Force 1 Low debuted 40 years ago, but it’s more relevant today than ever before.

Designed by Bruce Kilgore as the first Nike Basketball sneaker to feature Air technology, the silhouette has transcended the hardwood to become a staple within street fashion. A recently-surfaced “Ashen Slate” ensemble further distances the sneaker from its performance origins, bringing a lifestyle hue to the Air Force 1 PRM (read: “Premium”).

“Ashen Slate” previously appeared on other Nike Sportswear classics like the Air Max Plus. Its application on Kilgore’s “presidential” design animates a combination of textile, leather, and nubuck materials, which produces varying shades across the upper. Nonetheless, the muted blue pairs well with a light brown midsole underfoot, falling in line with other elevated takes on the Air Force 1 Low. Radial traction introduces a “Red Stardust” hue into the mix, rounding out the sneaker’s PRM edition with another understated seasonal color.

A nike.com launch date hasn’t been disclosed by the brand at the time of this writing, but that’s likely to change before 2024 arrives. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the “Ashen Slate” Air Force 1 ahead. The sneaker’s PRM version is priced at $145 USD.
